Practice makes perfect

Tanner gets frustrated when he doesn't color as good as Emma. Which means he gets frustrated a lot with coloring. I have to remind him that Emma has been coloring longer and if he works hard he can do the same things she does. My kids color all the time together and it really touches my heart to listen to Emma explain and help him out. Sometimes he doesn't want her help, but a lot of times he takes her advice to heart. Lately it seems to be working because his drawings are really, really improving. He has more details in his pictures and he can see what he wants to draw in his mind and put it to paper easier. He drew this fire engine racing to the fire with a fireman on board without anyone's help. I'm so proud of him for really working hard to become more of the artist he wants to be!

Some September Doodles

When we went to the ER for Lydia's big fall the nurse gave Tanner this picture. He worked SO HARD on it. I love how well he stayed in the lines. He worked on it the next day too with the blue water. Thankfully they didn't have markers at the hospital. That could have been dangerous :)

Emma learned about the life cycle of the butterfly at school at the beginning of the school year. She came home one day and whipped this bad boy up in a few minutes. I love the caterpillars climbing up the plant and then the crysalis hanging. And I love that she remembered the life cycle so well without any help.

Tanner's artwork

I realized with my last post that poor Tanman doesn't get much post time on this blog. So...here's some of Tanner's artwork. The above is a Tanner style rainbow he made for Emma (thus his writing Emma on the picture). Below is a few different decorated Christmas trees and Christmas bulbs. Whenever we talk about Christmas my kids mention our last Christmas tree that was really a shrub and was neglected and barely made it TO Christmas. Poor tree. Maybe it's found peace in tree heaven.

Emma's Solar System

Emma whipped this little picture up this morning after breakfast. It's the Earth and some planets. She's been into Aliens lately too. Pretty cute. I'll have to post something. And I'll have to post some of Tanner's creations too. And the picture got wrinkled, sorry Em!

Wildlife

Emma is a huge wildlife lover. Always has been. One of her favorite things to draw is animals.
I love her recent creations.

Mama giraff with her young.

Dolphin and whale swimming in the ocean (I also love the crab on the beach).

I asked Emma how she drew these pictures so good without looking at a picture for help and she said shutting her eyes, "I close my eyes like this and see the picture in my eyes."
